Sammie + Kelly // A Perfect Proposal // Portland, Oregon

I was truly giddy when Kelly messaged me on instagram to plan her proposal to Sam. I met Sammie back when I very first moved to Oregon, and have had wonderful connections throughout the years (including her sister’s upcoming wedding!) and I couldn’t wait to help plan this moment in her life. I knew she would be a hard one to surprise, but luckily since I’ve recently mentioned having her model before, she didn’t blink when I asked her again and told her I wanted to test out some new video techniques. Which I did, but it also gave me the perfect excuse to drag around an extra camera on a tripod so she wouldn’t be suspicious when I captured the proposal.

And luckily she had no idea until Kelly got down on one knee amongst the giant trees, and asked her to be her wife. Sammie probably cried the most but she was definitely not the only one in tears.

And the ring?! The two had made matching rings together in a workshop months prior (Kelly actually brought it all the way to Germany where she was first going to propose!) with tiny birds, and owl and woodpecker, on either side of the stone. This also isn’t Sam’s first piece as she also designed her sisters engagement ring, endless talent! I can’t wait to see what creative ideas these two have for their wedding.
