Prepping for your Photoshoot!

Scheduling your Session

I aim to shoot through golden hour for majority of my shoots. It’s that warm, sunshiny time just before the sun sets where the light is low and casts soft shadows. I love to shoot until what I call blue hour (which just sounds better than blue ten minutes) right after the sun dips below the horizon and you catch those last few minutes of dreamy light.

Sunrise can also be an incredible time to shoot, starting just before the sun crests the horizon and ending before it gets too high in the sky. It can be a little chilly in the wee morning hours, but always worth the views.

You and I will chat about what you are looking for in your session, check sunrise or sunset times for your location, and plan the best time to meet for your shoot.

What to Wear

My best advice? Be you! These photos are about reflecting the best of you and should reflect your style. But here are a few suggestions that can help!

Color Tips!

Replace Bright Green
with Forest Green

Replace Bright Orange

Replace Yellow
with Mustard Yellow

Replace Hot Pink

  • Avoid clothing with large logos or wording as it can be distracting.

  • If you are going to be wearing something with a pattern, make sure it isn’t too busy so it doesn’t clash with your background or distract too much from our main subject, that gorgeous mug of yours.

  • Bring more outfits than you need! I’ll help narrow down outfit selections and accessories to give you the best results for your gallery. I usually suggest one that is casual, comfortable, but something that makes you feel extra confident. Your other outfit should be something you absolutely Love, maybe a little more formal, something that makes you feel like the damn queen you are!

  • Dress in layers. Adding a jacket or cute hat is an easy way to quickly change up your look without having to entirely change your outfit.

Other Tips

  • Make sure your nails are done, chipped polish is the worst way to ruin a great shot.

  • Please, for the love of everything, DO NOT spray tan before your session. Let me tell you, this is a girl who loves a good tan, but it tends to look splotchy (especially in those detail shots) and can come out looking like an orange nightmare.

Where to Go

From your favorite coffee shop to scenic vistas, this is all about you. If hiking is your jam, let’s hit the trails and find some epic views for sunset. Or if you’ve got more of a city style, let’s hit the waterfront or grab a drink downtown in your favorite bar. Whatever you choose, we will adventure around together to keep things fun and funky while I capture who you are!
