How to Prep for your Newborn session

Scheduling

Usually the best time to photograph your baby is within 10 days of birth for that newborn freshness! Unless looking at doing a fresh48 session (in hospital or birth center), waiting a few days for your newborn to regain birthweight is also ideal, and gives you a few days to adjust to your new life.

Most sessions take about an hour, but keep in mind we are working with an unpredictable newborn, which means working around feeding, crying, and pooping. Sessions are capped at two hours to give everyone a break.

Other Tips

  • Try to keep your little one awake 1-2 hours before

  • Feed right before your session

  • Keep the room warm, naked babies cool down quickly!

  • White noise or soft music helps keep them lulled to sleep

  • Keep props and accessories simple and easily removable without disturbing your baby

  • Natural light is key! Try to pick the room with the most available window light

Let them be babies!

My photography style focuses on a much more natural approach to newborn photography. My goal is to capture your little one in their natural space, cuddled up by you or swaddled in their sweet new nursery you so lovingly designed. No awkward posing or composite images of babies hanging from trees (yes, those are fake!) but just you and your little bundle of love.
